Strolling Success!

This morning the three of us went out for a walk together. It was so nice! I can't wait till T.J. is done with this awful project at work so that we can do it more often in the evenings - even at 9am it was pretty warm and sticky.

Joseph did really well. He stayed awake for about 20 minutes or so before the motion lulled him to sleep. He still doesn't seem totally enthralled about being in there - the seat just doesn't seem very comfortable in my opinion - but he was interested in seeing the world go by.

Here are Joseph and T.J. on our way out:

I was so naive.

I thought that I had seen a "blowout" before. Nothing Joseph has thrown at me has come close to today. It was a perfect storm of pricey organic clothing, beautiful hand-knit wool soaker, and laundry day having been yesterday that caused it, I'm sure.

There was poo in his armpits.

Am I joking? Exaggerating? No, sadly, I am not.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

It's a really good thing he's so cute!

What? You didn't watch the game last night?!?

Joseph can't believe you didn't watch the Penguins! This is very serious business.

But he can't stay mad for long! Don't worry! You can cheer for them on Friday! Let's go Pens!

Elmo Indoctrination

Joseph has a lot of books. A lot. Like probably at least as many as we have in total if you don't include my cookbooks. And of all of them, which book gets the squeals and laughs?

My First Trip to the Farm - Starring Elmo.

That's right, somehow Elmo can get into the minds of 3 month olds. No television commercials (or heck, let's be honest: even comprehension) needed.

Whoever invented Elmo was a freaking genius.

ETA: apparently, Elmo was invented by Kevin Clash, who plays Elmo on Sesame Street, in 1985.

Joseph is 3 Months Old!

We have a water baby!

We went swimming today for the first time! He did so well - he was in up to his chest, kicking and playing. I am so so sad that I left the camera upstairs. :'( He wore an adorable "rasher" shirt made to go in the water to keep him protected from the sun, and his sun hat - so cute. He has matching swim trunks, but we just put him in his diaper. We worked our way in slowly and stayed in for probably 20 minutes! I think he liked it. Our friend Sian was over and made him feel very comfortable in the water.

Watch out Michael Phelps!

Oh, look at me!

I'm (almost) too cute for my woolies!

Pictured in Hawaiian t-shirt from our friend in Honolulu and his fabulous new wool soaker from Teresa.

And a demonstration of mom's photog skills:

The pendulum swings

As soon as I post something, Joseph generally does the exact opposite the next day. So I hesitate to even tell you these things. But, for the adoring audience, I will take my chances.

  • We had strolling success yesterday morning - Joseph took a walk in the BOB with no additional padding.
  • He's started taking 3 naps a day, pretty much on schedule (still just while being worn though)
  • He stopped crying (mostly) in the car the last few days
Who knows, I just roll with the punches.

The BOB is here.

It is as beautiful as I'd imagined. Unfortunately, Joseph didn't think much of it. The kid has no taste.

I think we need some sort of snuggler device so he feels more cozy. The seat is HUGE (it can carry a 75lb kid.)

Moms, tell me how you got your child to love the stroller. I had high hopes of taking it on museum free day tomorrow!

Look at him go!

He rolled once while I was looking for the little camera, but he did it again right away! I think he's officially rolling.

Joseph rolled over!

From his tummy to his back. What an all-star!
