Our visit to Atlanta

It was so awesome to go back and visit our friends in Atlanta.  I don't know when we'll be back again, but I truly miss it and appreciate the time we spent there with Joseph so much.  I'm sad that he won't remember our time there, as it was so formative for him and for me.  We hit some of our favorite old places, saw many of our old friends, and had a generally great time.

Joseph's 4th Birthday

Oh my big man, how I love you.  I love you so much I made you this ugly cake, but it took a LOT of effort.  I'm glad you loved it, in all of it's imperfection!

Joseph's 4 year Pediatrician Visit

I feel like we were just there for his 3 year appointment!  Time is ticking away like crazy.

Joseph weighed in at 30lbs (the last two days of pizza, cupcakes, and McDonalds FTW!) and measured at 39".  He is officially on the weight chart now (woot!) but fell quite a bit for height - going from around 50-75% to the 25% mark.  I think it's just a fluke - Patty reports that T.J. was 38" at 4 years old, so I expect some blooming this year!  Hopefully during the summer so we don't have to buy pants twice!

Joseph did awesome at the doctor - he took a hearing test, vision test, and got his last shot before childhood boosters!  Poor guy was a real trooper - he was terrified but didn't cry when it happened.  The anticipation is always the worst part, eh?

In other news, I went to parent/teacher conferences last week and Joseph's doing great in school.  His teacher said he excels at math and reading comprehension, which is great news.  His favorite works right now are paper cutting (scissors), pouring, and matching.  He also likes to observe the other children doing their work and is starting to interact more with them.  He had several friends over yesterday for his birthday party and it was interesting to see the dynamic!

This just in: Poor second child gets no attention!

Thanks, Captain Obvious!

In order to combat 2nd child syndrome, I signed Nora and myself up for some Mommy and Me classes.  One is Toddlerobics, and it is just as awful as you'd expect.  The other is swimming, and it started today - it was awesome!  I think Nora is really going to enjoy it, and it is some serious one-on-one time which is great as it's easy to get in the habit of doing errands and chores when there is "only" one child around.

The best part of all is that the pool is 90 degrees!!!  LOVE   It reminded me of our pool in Atlanta in August, where you got OUT to cool down. :)

Sorry, no pictures as we were in the water, but I'm sure you can imagine how cute she was in her swim shirt and board shorts.

Figuring out the potty

As anticipated, Nora's infant potty learning was short-lived.  But as she's approaching that supposedly magical 18mo mark, there is understanding!  She has started getting her little potty after she poops, which is a good step, I think.  She also puts the dirty diaper in it when we're done cleaning her up.

I have high hopes of being out of diapers at the end of the summer!

We all look older

Four years older... Just as in love as the first day.
