FO: Sock Monkey Pants!

I know I say it every time... but aren't these the cutest yet???

They are for my friend Whitney's 2nd baby boy, Max... who is now about 5 months old. Ooops!

Better late than never, eh? And I'm really hoping they fit right! They are 100% wool, so they can be used as a diaper cover, but they are so cute that they can hold their own with or without a cloth diaper underneath, I think!

FO: Christmas Stocking #4

Auntie Debbie came to town for the holidays (more on that later), and even though I denied her request for a stocking of her own at first, I couldn't follow through on my grinchy ways. :) So she got her very own fair isle stocking! And ironically it's the only one that I finished 100% with lining... maybe that'll be next years' Christmas deadline project.

I was very sly and woke up at 5am to come out and put it on the mantle so that she wouldn't know and it'd be a surprise on Christmas morning. It worked - she was so sleepy that she didn't notice when I asked her to turn on the fire place, or for the first 20 minutes we were all out there! I had to ask her if she liked her surprise on the mantle before she realized!

What a Flirt!

We always knew that Joseph was a bit of a ladies' man, but he is really turning on the charm lately! Today we walked by a cute teen aged girl and he looked her straight in the eye and said "Hiiiiii". I just burst out laughing. The next guy walking by must have thought I was nuts.

8 Days Old, Already a Ladies' Man

Wassup, lady?

Here, I'm sharing my napkin with you! See how much you mean to me?

Chatter

Words are starting to come fast and furious! I've added a little area on the right of the blog to help keep track. I'll update there when I can.

Sweet Dreams

Joseph slept till 7:15 this morning! A first, and it was fabulous.

Nice!

Joseph has another word! Nice! He even uses it at appropriate times. I think he gets it from me. Time to start watching what I say. :)

What do you mean, what's the word? It really is nice!

New Word!

It's been a long time since I could report a new word, but today T.J. and I both caught him asking for his bus! Pretty awesome. Hopefully this is the beginning of a word-splosion!

Oh Martha!

Oh Martha, watch out. I'm on my way to becoming you (hopefully without the stay in jail... though it'd give me lots of time to knit).

Yesterday I made melted snowman cookies for my mom's group cookie exchange. They turned out so great! I am not all that excited to eat them, as they are just sugar cookies with marshmallow and royal icing, but they are AWFULLY cute.

Basic idea:
1) bake sugar cookies
2) top (sloppily) with royal icing
3) soften marshmallow in microwave and plop them on cookie
4) decorate with colored icing
5) try not to crunch them all on delivery.

I can't put my arms down!

Maybe not quite that bad, but we were bundled up yesterday for our morning playground playdate! It was about 32 degrees, so I had Joseph in baby legs, pants, a shirt, heavy sweater, winter coat, two pairs of mittens, and a hat. Whew!

Sorry the photos aren't more exciting... Mama was trying to stay warm, too!

He's getting his very own coupe for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa Monn - I think it'll be a hit!

Another round at the doctor's office

Against my better judgement, I went ahead and scheduled the weight check appointment the doctor wanted. The appointment was today, and we had some marginal improvement from last time.

Joseph's up to 20.6 lbs, still at 32.5" tall and 18.5" head circumference. He's finally "legal" to turn in the carseat (though we have no intention of turning him anytime soon - check out this link, or google "extended rear facing" and watch some videos if you want more info.

His weight curve is looking better (on the exponential upswing) but his height and head now look stagnant. I'm not particularly concerned, because I think last time his weight was stagnant and the other two were OK. I hear some kids only grow one way at a time - out or up.

Of course, the doc, whose job it is to worry, ordered more blood tests. After the torture of last time, and how he was already screaming bloody murder from being placed on the scale I was loathe to get more bloodwork done. But we sucked it up, and Joseph was amazing! He didn't even cry at all and he had many vials pulled! I was so proud of him. The awesome nurses from last time were there again, and they were equally great this time. We'll see if anything comes up on the bloodwork. If it comes back normal, he wants us to see a nutritionist instead.

After all of that, we went and got pizza and ice cream for lunch as a treat. He almost got a gigantic stuffed dog at Costco as a guilt gift from me, but I tried to be reasonable. And by reasonable, I mean I already have my eye on something else that he'll like better. :)

Another Lunchtime Photo Shoot

Why am I always taking pictures during meals? Because the best lighting in our home is there! I don't even need a flash or slow shutter to get pics in our eat-in kitchen!

"What is the meaning of life, anyway?"
"Pardon? What do you mean 'I'm so silly'?"
"My what?"
"Oh this? This is my napkin hat."
"I thought it was obvious. Sometimes I wonder if you are one card short of a full deck, Mom"

No, son, just one year short of a full night's rest. Those expressions were worth it, though.

What a difference a year makes!

Or maybe not... the pants still fit! Yey for wool and it's stretchy goodness! Courtesy of Tante Teresa

Playdate Fun

Today we went to this super awesome indoor play center with our mom's group. Joseph and I *both* had a great time!

Just like the Olympics, right?

Let's play "sit on Mama's lap"

Baby? What baby? No baby here.

On the Balance Beam

Bouncy time!
